I Saw Fast & Furious 6 Because I’m A Good Wife.

Last Friday, I accompanied Captain Thoughtful and our very good friend, affectionately known as The Yeti, to see Fast & Furious 6. BECAUSE I’M A GOOD WIFE Y’ALL.

Here are my thoughts.

1. Opening montage is classic. Pure cheesy gold. Or golden cheese.

2. But…whaaaaa…..????

3. You can’t take a fully intact bullet out of your own shoulder without at least a mirror. And also, probably not in that case either.

4. But. But….PHYSICS. You can’t change laws of physics. You can’t. NO.

5. Tanks aren’t that fast.

6. (Throws hands in air, shrugs shoulders, and waits patiently for next dance movie Captain Thoughtful now must accompany me to)

7. Also? Jason Statham is EVERYWHERE.

Humor pause for public service announcement.

On the real though y’all, if you have ever been in a very bad car accident, this is probably not the movie to see. Some of you may remember that in 2011, I was in a very serious car accident. My car rolled and I was trapped. Watching this movie brought back some not very nice flashbacks. Also, and I’m sure you all know this, but if you’re in a car accident and your car hits walls and rolls, that is not something that you walk away from easily and of your own volition. Trust me. If you’ve been in a bad accident, maybe pass on this movie, even the hilariously cheesy yet somehow still completely awesome dialogue doesn’t make the accident scenes easier to watch.

We now return to our regularly scheduled humor.

at least it wasn’t directed by Steven Spielberg…no dinosaurs, right?

  2. Lorna's Voice says:

Very clever. I wonder if Fast and Furious 15 will have rolling coffins in it for good old Bruce, RIP… ;)

  3. Drakina says:

I’ve sat through them all with the hubs…although I must admit, Vin Disel made it worth it. ;)

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

Haha! For me, the icee and popcorn made it worth it.

It doesn’t seem like we watched the same movie. Yes there were cars and planes and explosions and other such things, but really, this movie is about FAMILY. Didn’t Vin Diesel stress that enough? :)

Cheesy ‘family’ business aside, I really like the Fast & Furious movies!

Ugh, you’re a better wife than me. Luckily for me, hubby lost interest around Fast and Furious 3.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

Awww, I try. It was actually a very entertaining movie, so if you hubby decides to be interested again, you won’t suffer too much. Probably. Maybe make him buy you some yummy snacks first…

  7. thekatiecash says:

Hahaha, couldn’t agree more, especially about number 4. That just sums up the whole movie. :) And my husband is always trying to cajole me into going to action movies with him…. there are just other ways I’d rather spend my money–like clothes.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

I actually really like action movies, and I don’t expect them to be completely realistic but sheesh the number of time gravity was completely defied in this kind of blew my mind.

Also, yes to spending money on clothes instead. :)

    1) Oy, seeing a movie like that after having been in a bad accident yourself would be fairly awful. Captain Thoughtful, I hope, was able to supply you with some ice cream/copious hugs/soothing item of your choice after you sat through that.

    2) I’m diggin’ the new format! It looks awesome. :)

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

      1. The good Captain was thoughtful as ever and held my hand through it all. And bought me an icee. :) I was kind of surprised by how bothered I was by the accident scenes, I thought I would be fine to be honest, but all the rolling cars was harder to watch then I expected.

      2. Thanks!

  9. Jodi says:

I will watch it, but only to see all the yummy, yummy muscles. I could care less about cars and whatever those movies are about …

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

I think you will be most pleased with the amount of muscles…

I’m sorry that the movie brought back traumatic experience for you. I’m sorry that you were in such a horrible accident. I, and the internet, are happy you are alive!

I Plan to take my kids because of the diverse cast and also because the director is Asian American. I heard his interview on NPR and for his effort to try to combat stereotypes, I thought we should support him. :-)

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

Thanks! I’m totally ok, I’ve seen movies with accidents since then and been ok, I think it was just the sheer amount of accidents and how many of them were rolling accidents in this movie that was hard for me to watch.

Having said that though, this movie totally scores for diversity and also the female characters aren’t just one dimensional, so it definitely got a lot of points from me on those things. Really, it was a very entertaining movie.

I’m flabbergasted. Fully expected a walk down Realism Lane from this one…

Apparently I am going this weekend to watch it too. My husband has been watching all the previous ones in preparation.,

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

Haha! I like his dedication, it sounds like me with the LOTR or Hobbit. :)

  15. A Morning Grouch says:

SIX? How are there six of these movies? You ARE a good wife. Thanks for the heads up on the accident warning, too. Though, it doesn’t sound like I’m as good of a wife as you, haha.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

      Thanks, I try!

And yeah, there are 6 and I heard they are going to make 9….

  16. Gary Lum says:

Sorry to hear this brought back flash backs. You are a good wife. I’m very keen to see this movie.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

No worries, I’m ok. :) I think you’ll like it, once I got past the flashbacks, I actually enjoyed it!
