The Scene That Will Haunt Me Daily For The Rest Of My Days

There is a really fantastic TV show called “Bomb Girls”. I had read about it, but since I don’t live in Canada, I had never seen it until NETFLIX. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Netflix for  being Netflix and bringing me so many shows and movies that I can watch from my couch while wearing sweats and binge eating Watermelon Sour Patch Kids.

Anyway, Bomb Girls. It is SO GOOD. Watch it y’all.

Except there is this one scene in the very first episode that will haunt you forever and I’m saying that as someone who has seen a lot of gruesome things and not flinched. This made me flinch. Hard. And I can’t stop thinking about it. It just pops into my head randomly and horrifies me all over again.

I’m just going to tell you what it is in the hope of exorcising it from my brain. Don’t read on if you have a weak stomach or are prone to vomiting in your mouth at the slightest provocation.

A woman has her scalp ripped off by a hook.

That scene will haunt me for the rest of my days.

I knew exactly which scene you were talking about as soon as I read, “Except there is this one scene…” Goodness. That is a very haunting scene indeed!

I love that show! However, I started watching it after my sister had seen it and recommended it to me, so she warned me about that particular scene. Thank God! When I started to sense it coming up, I turned down the volume and closed my eyes for a few seconds until I suspected it was over. Lol. I can only imagine the nightmares I would have had if I had actually seen it, and even though I didn’t, I still felt paranoid whenever it showed the girls working with the hooks.

I know! I’m super scared for them every time a hook passes by.

Thank you for that visual. I will however, based on your recommendation go find the show.

Netflix introduced this show to me too. And that scene…’s haunting. I closed my eyes.

““If an optimist had his left arm chewed off by an alligator, he might say in a pleasant and hopeful voice, “Well this isn’t too bad, I don’t have a left arm anymore but at least nobody will ever ask me if I’m left-handed or right-handed,” but most of us would say something more along the lines of, “Aaaaaa! My arm! My arm!”
― Lemony Snicket. (granted, scalps aren’t arms, but still, this seemed oddly appropriate.)

I’ve never heard of the show, but I won’t be watching it. Thanks for the gruesome picture. Now I will be haunted the rest of my life. LOL (Really, I will)

We should all have some tea right about now.

I wish the things that haunted me were only in movies and TV. Still it is silly how so many of us think we can watch (or see) anything we want and not have it affect us. And my favourite part is that you don’t get to choose how things you see will affect you.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

Good point, it’s hard to predict how some things will affect us.

As a Netflix addict myself, I too stumbled upon this show, finishing the whole series in less than two weeks (praying for a movie) and too, am haunted by that scene. Chills just thinking about it.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

For real. Also, I am fully addicted to the show now, I’ll try to get through it in 2 weeks. :)

That scene is awful. Still. I am Canadian (and live near where it’s filmed, so doubly required to watch the show :P ), so I saw that episode ages ago, and still, it makes me flinch every time the equipment in the show moves at all, anywhere near anyone.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

Yep. I’m with you on that. Are there any other Canadian shows I should be watching? I feel like I’m missing out.

      1. lexy3587 says:

Republic of Doyle is a good one. kind of a quirky detective comedy, but with loads of east coaster accent and beautiful scenery.

  11. LKZ says:

I’ve seen the first episode of Bomb Girls, but I totally missed that.
I missed a lot though. I’ll have to watch it again.

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

You should watch it again! Seriously, I totally fell in love with that show.

You should probably see SAW for more horrific scenes. Then they all blend in and you won’t know the difference. [personally, I don’t like any of the movies in the series except the first 2]

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

I’ve seen all of them! None of them really stuck with me too much. Is that bad? That seems bad.

      1. xoxosanaz90210 says:

No, it didn’t to me too. I think that’s just sad, not bad. You know getting sensitized to blood and gore…

    1. girlonthecontrary says:

I’m pretty sure the character wasn’t looking at it that way. :)

  13. Tua says:

That’s exactly why I stopped watching Game of Thrones 3 episodes through. The gory scenes just keep coming back to you. My sincerest empathise for your scene-that-will-haunt-you-daily episode. Feel better?!
